Learning music: current research issues (12 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon completion of this unit students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of selected issues in recent research in music education; evaluate different theories of learning and their application to music education; review current writings on the nature of creativity and how it informs music education; discuss issues of giftedness and talent in music education; evaluate the arguments in the current debate over the transfer of music learning.

Assessment: Short tasks (total 4000 words): 40% + responses to course materials + Research essay of (6000 words):60%
