European Perspectives on Music Education (12 points)

Synopsis:

Objectives: Upon completion of this unit students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of the origin, development and principles of the Kodaly, Dalcroze and Orff approaches to music education; compare these approaches and the extent to which they are compatible; consider how the principles of each approach might apply to the student's own teaching; be aware of adaptions and developments that have occurred when these approaches have been transferred to Australian and other educational environments.

Assessment: Two Essays (2 x 3000 words each): 60% + Report (4000 words) on application of pedagogy studied or reflective jopurnal maintained during participation in European tour: 40%
