Introduction to data modelling: the E-R diagram. Introduction to the relational model. Physical storage devices. Transaction processing. System maintenance. Addressability. Data structures. Sorting, physical clustering, dense and non-dense indexing. Database administration.Security, Recovery. SQL commands. Data warehousing, Distributed database. Assessment: Examination (2 hours): 50% + Practical work: 50% Prerequisites: COT1720 or CSE1720, or BUS1010 or equivalent Prohibitions: BUS2112, CFR2132, CFR2201, COT2132, COT2138, COT2180, COT3180, CSC3161, CSE2132, CSE2138, CSE2180, CSE3316, not available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Network Computing and Graduate Diploma of Network Computing. |
