Synopsis: Introduction to the principles of database systems and their organisation and management. Problems of logical data description, organisation and manipulation are addressed. Various data models, query languages, and issues of integrity and security.

Assessment: Examination (3 hours): 80% + Assignments: 20%

Contact Hours: Two 1-hour lectures per week

Prerequisites: CSC1030 or CSE1303 or equivalent
