The following information should be read in conjunction with
the degree regulations of the Bachelor of Commerce and the Bachelor of Business
Systems. Specialisations from commerce are available in accounting, business
law and taxation, econometrics and business statistics, economics, finance,
management, and marketing. The double-degree of Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor
of Business Systems requires a minimum of four years of full-time study, or
five years for a degree with honours, or the equivalent in part-time study.
Students must complete units to the value of a minimum of 192
credit points (32 units) subject to the following conditions:
(a) 102 points (17 units) must be chosen from units offered by the
Faculty of Business and Economics (Clayton) and must include the following:
(i) Completion of the following compulsory units:
(ii) Completion of
a major in a discipline or field of study of the faculty. This requires
students to complete 48 points of study in a single discipline or field of
study with at least 12 points at each of second and third-year level.
Disciplines are defined by department prefixes and fields of study are those
sets of related units that may be defined in the catalogue of courses and
units.
(iii) A maximum of eight first-year-level units (48 credit points).
In order to meet this requirement, students are able to undertake the
second-year versions of the appropriate number of compulsory units.
(b) 84 points (14 units) must be chosen from the School of Business
Systems, Faculty of Information Technology, and must include BUS1010, BUS1021,
BUS1042, BUS1060, BUS1110, BUS2011, BUS2120, BUS2021, BUS2176, BUS3020,
BUS3030*, BUS3112, BUS3150.
(c) 6 points (one unit) an elective from Business Systems or
Commerce.
(d) The following units are excluded from the double degree: AFC2160,
BUS1100, BUS3522. The following combinations of units are excluded from the
double degree: AFC2140 or AFC3140 and BUS3030.
Students must have their program of study approved by the course coordinator or
the course coordinator's nominee prior to commencement of the relevant year.
* If AFC2140 or AFC3140 are taken as commerce units, then BUS3030 must be replaced with a business systems elective
