Synopsis: Topics include an overview of financial systems and the roles of financial institutions, the characteristics of financial contracts, equity finance and the stock exchange, financial mathematics and the concept of present value, debt finance and financial leverage, financial derivatives and financial innovation.

Assessment: Mid-semester test: 20% + Examination: 80%

Contact Hours: Two 1-hour lectures and one 1-hour tutorial per week

Prerequisites: AFC1021 or ECC1000
