General information

Course code: 1720 * Gippsland campus * HECS fees applicable * Major: System development or business systems * Attendance optional.

Aims

The system development major of this course is designed to produce computing professionals including analysts/programmers with strengths in the areas of applications software development, and in the design and development of information systems. The business systems major has a focus on the application of information technology in management decision making.

Course duration

The Bachelor of Computing normally requires six years of part-time distance education study to complete.

Entry requirements

Formal entry requirements are detailed in the section on entry level in this book. For the Bachelor of Computing, students are normally required to have completed a Year 12 program equivalent to the Victorian Certificate of Education, including studies in English and Mathematics. Mature-aged or disadvantaged applicants are assessed on the basis of their employment and overall educational background. The lack of formal qualifications should not discourage inquiry. Students who do not meet formal entry requirements may be able to qualify for admission by successfully completing two approved subjects on a single-subject enrolment basis.
