The Executive Certificate in Marketing provides an avenue for prospective
non-degree holding mature students, with significant experience, to obtain or
upgrade marketing knowledge and skills at the graduate level. This course
provides an integrated, graduate level introductory course in marketing and is
offered on-campus, by distance education and by Open Learning Australia by the
Department of Marketing.
On
completion, successful candidates should:
- have an understanding of the theoretical principles upon which the
practice of marketing is based and be able to apply these principles in
analysing a range of marketing, strategic marketing and management problems;
- be familiar with the applied and analytical tools used by marketers and
apply these to the formulation of alternative marketing actions through
critical analysis;
- develop an understanding of specialist areas of marketing, appropriate
to the student's needs, and how marketing decisions will impact on those areas
as well as being able to identify marketing decisions most appropriate for a
particular situation;
- demonstrate an understanding of current marketing issues and the ongoing
evolution of marketing in the business environment.

This
course is offered by distance education at the Gippsland campus, on-campus at
the Caulfield campus, and by Open Learning Australia.
One
semester of full-time study or two semesters of part-time study at the
Caulfield campus. Two semesters of part-time study at the Gippsland campus or
by open learning.
The
course consists of two core subjects and two elective subjects:
- MKX9160 Marketing theory and practice
- MKF9110 Theory and process of buyer behaviour
Plus two elective
subjects from:
- MKF9120 Marketing research and forecasting
- AFF9800 Marketing financial control
- MKF9361 Marketing decision systems
- MKX9261 Marketing communication strategies
- MKX5251 Case studies in strategy
Or one (1) subject from the
above list and one (1) from the elective list below:
- MKF5271 Product management and planning
- MKF5391 Sales management
- MKF9810 Management of retail enterprises
- MKF5630 Services marketing
- MKF4331 Advanced marketing research analysis
- MKF5260 International marketing
- MKF5381 Business marketing
- MKX9660 Relationship marketing and service quality management
- MKF9830 International retailing
- MKF9820 Issues in retail technology
Or another subject
from any of Monash University's graduate courses with the approval of the
course director.
The
course consists of the following four core subjects:
- MKG9401 Marketing theory and practice
- MKG9402 Buyer behaviour
- MKG9420 Marketing research and forecasting
- MKG9444 Marketing in a foreign environment
Note that MKG9401 and
MKG9402 are prerequisites for MKG9420 and MKG9444.
