Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should have skills in creating and adapting content for on-line delivery/publishing; knowledge of a range of alternatives and opportunities for distributing visual communication over a network; be able to apply the results of their investigation to a communication project; knowledge of the protocols and standards of network publishing.
Synopsis Students requiring an understanding of, and basic skills for publishing on the WWW undertake this unit. Students develop an understanding of the development, status and potential of delivering information and graphics over digital networks using microcomputers. Variations on network types are covered ie Internet and Intranets. The protocols, set-up and file formats available and commonly used are also explained and used. Students work with a body of information (content) then propose and develop appropriate concepts within the given parameters (intellectual, financial, physical, technical and aesthetic).
