Graduate Diploma of Education (School Librarianship) distance education

This course will not be taking new enrolments in 1998. It has been replaced by
the Graduate Diploma in Information Management (Teacher Librarianship).
Students are required to study the following ten subjects:
- GEC7210 Language, literacy and literature in education
- GEC7220 Foundations of school librarianship
- GEC7230 Administration and organisation of the resource centre
- GEC7240 Curriculum planning and resources
- GEC7250 Information needs and users
- GEC7260 Organisation of information
- GEC7270 Computer-supported information services
- GEC7280 School librarianship professional development (0.5)
- GEC7290 School librarianship practicum (0.5)
- GEC7700 Special topic in school librarianship
Subjects GEC7280 and
GEC7290 are compulsory for all students, and no student will be able to
complete the qualification without having met the requirements. Students will
be required to undertake ten different professional activities for subject
GEC7280 and twenty days of supervised practical experience for subject GEC7290
in a library staffed by a trained, experienced librarian approved by the
librarianship staff.
