Objectives On completion of this subject, students should possess the ability to design spatial forms that express the ideas of the maker; understand the technical considerations which flow from the original concept; be able to manipulate hot glass to interpret designs into three-dimensional objects using a range of techniques; critically appraise their own and others' concepts, designs and finished objects; be skilled in working within a team to achieve a wider range of outcomes.
Synopsis This subject provides opportunities for greater self-expression in the realisation of ideas that are not necessarily related to functional glass making, including experimental three-dimensional glass making. The emphasis is on the acquisition of skills within the context of the theoretical framework laid down in APA2303. Students are encouraged to extend their abilities through team work. Therefore, effective communication within the group is seen as an essential part of studio sessions.
