Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students should have acquired competence in manipulating glass in a range of states; be able to apply the elements and principles of design to a broad range of design situations and objectively analyse and synthesise design options; be able to communicate in oral, written and visual form their response to technical and practical issues; have a broad understanding of contemporary glass artists and practice and a developing sense of current issues in glass; be able to collaborate and cooperate safety and productively within the studio environment.

Synopsis This subject builds on the basic knowledge and skills acquired in APA1301. Studio sessions focus on the exploration of design and making through problem-solving projects. Individual and group projects encourage a collaborative approach to the acquisition and sharing of knowledge. Seminar sessions encourage debate and criticism of contemporary issues and practice while exploring the relationships between theory and practice within contemporary craft practice.
