Synopsis
As for JRN2901.
Objectives
On successful completion of this unit students will have:
- Critical and analytical understanding of the key theories in international news reporting;
- Understanding of global journalism practices;
- Ability to examine issues facing international news reporting, with reference to particular regions;
- Understanding of the historical relationship between Western media, in particular the Australian media, and Asian media;
Assessment
Written assignments (4200 words): 90%
Attendance/participation for on-campus students, or reading report for OCL students (300 words): 10%
Contact hours
2 hours (one 1-hour lecture and one 1-hour tutorial) per week
