Course description

This is course designed for non-lawyers who hold middle and senior management positions within local government who are seeking to gain an appreciation of the legal and philosophical environment in which their skills are being utilized.

Course structure

Candidates are usually required to complete four units, each worth 6 credit points, of which two are compulsory units:

  • LAW7212 Australian legal system
  • LAW7087 Local government law
  • The remaining two units may be chosen from the list of specialised local government law units below:

  • LAW7332 Principles of construction law
  • LAW7059 Planning law
  • LAW7259 Current issues in environmental protection
  • LAW7313 Introduction to regulatory studies
  • LAW7315 Regulatory methods
