Executive Certificate in Human Resource Management

Course description

This course is designed for people who are working or intend to work in any area of management, with a particular interest in human resources. The course is designed for experienced managers without a prior degree who wish to undertake formal study and gain a qualification in human resource management. It will also enable managers to make the transition to a new role in human resource management.

Course structure

Students must complete four units (24 points).

(a) Students must complete two core units (12 points) as follows:

  • MGX9600 Managing people and organisations
  • MGX9850 Human resource management

(b) Students must complete one core unit (6 points) from either:

  • MGX9180 Employee relations
  • MGX9220 Industrial and workplace relations

(c) Students must complete one elective unit (6 points) from 9000-level units taught by the Department of Management or outside the Department.

It is recommended that students consult with the course director to ensure their elective units form a coherent study program.

Students who successfully complete the Executive Certificate in Human Resource Management may apply for admission to either the Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management or the Master of Human Resource Management and would be eligible for advanced standing for four units.
