Units indexed by faculty Master of Family MedicineCourse code: 0099 + Course abbreviation: (MFamMed) + Total credit points required: 96 + 4 semesters full-time, 8 semesters part-time Study mode and course locationOff-campus (Clayton) Course descriptionThe Department of General Practice offers this program to general practitioners who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in areas relevant to general practice. It also provides them with research and teaching skills to prepare them for potential academic general practice careers. Entry requirementsApplicants are required to be currently registered by the medical board in their respective state, or have a qualification which is eligible to be registered in a state of the commonwealth. A minimum of two years of work experience is essential, and preference will be given to applicants currently employed and who have been active in general practice for a minimum of two years. Special consideration may be given to suitably qualified overseas graduates residing in their own country. It is recommended that the Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine is successfully completed in the first instance, as it is required that candidates achieve a credit or higher for the unit MFM2006 (Introduction to research methods). Course structureCandidates are required to undertake coursework and research. The coursework includes elective units plus a compulsory core unit and minor thesis. Although MFM2007 (Learning and teaching) is not compulsory, it is highly recommended. Core unitsElective units
