Students acquire the skills to take responsibility for designing and implementing applied econometric projects and the ability to communicate the results to wider audiences. These skills are extremely attractive to the business and finance community. Entry requirementsApplicants must have completed:
Advanced standingStudents who successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Applied Econometrics or equivalent with an average grade of credit or above may apply for credit exemptions for up to 50% of the value of the masters program, depending upon the units that have been studied in the Graduate Diploma in Applied Econometrics or in other graduate programs. Course structure(a) Students must complete six units (36 points) as follows: (i) A minimum of two (12 points) from the following list of 9000-level units:
(ii) A minimum of four units (24 points) from the following list of 5000-level units:
(b) Students must complete a further six units (36 points) as follows: (i) Research project (12 points)* plus four 9000/5000-level elective units (24 points) from another department in the Faculty of Business and Economics, or (ii) Minor thesis (24 points) plus two 9000/5000-level units, or (iii) Research project (12 points)* plus one of the specialisations listed below (24 points). * The research project will be jointly supervised by staff from the Department of Econometrics and Business Statistics and from the department which teaches that specialisation. SpecialisationsStudents who wish to have a specific specialisation recognised as part of the degree will need to choose the two-unit research project in (c) above and will need to select four elective units in (b) according to the following guidelines.
