This option can act as a preparation for entry to a research degree such as the MA in Linguistics by coursework and research or the MA by 100% research. Entry requirementsApplicants should hold at least a pass bachelors degree with a major sequence in linguistics or a major sequence in English or another language, with results at least at credit standard in the third part of the major sequence. Course structureStudents complete four 12-point units (48 points in total) from the units listed below, including ALM4190/ALM5410 (Research project). The research project must normally be completed on campus. Core units

Alternative electives may be approved on an individual basis. Exit pointAfter successful completion of 24 points, students may apply to exit the program with a Faculty/Graduate Certificate in Linguistics. ArticulationStudents require a qualifying grade of H2A and a grade of distinction or above for the research component to progress to the MA in Linguistics by research (100% research or 66% research) or directly to the PhD. Students require a credit average in the Masters Qualifying to transfer to the Master of Applied Linguistics by coursework.
