Synopsis: This subject provides students with opportunities to apply increasing experience, skills, knowledge and creativity to 2D animation and sound components of multimedia productions. Students are expected to conceive, design and produce static, motion and interactive imaging for multimedia applications. Preliminary focus will be given to the specific requirements for successful multimedia publication, from concept to design, scripting, planning, coordinating and testing. Major project work allows students to explore and develop individual interests and skills.

Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, students will: 1.explain concepts of interactivity, non-linear narrative, navigation and graphics user interface controls; 2.skilfully create, edit, manipulate, compose and output digital images; 3.use software applications in the creation, development, editing and production of interactive animated content; 4.skilfully and creatively communicate with 'new media'; 5.produce messages or experiences or information in multimedia in an advanced manner; 6.critically analyse the content and concept of published and proposed interactive animation projects; 7.define, research, develop and coordinate content for an interactive animation project; 8.devise and develop a storyboard/script for an interactive animation production; 9.conceive, design, coordinate and produce an interactive animation project; 10.display competence, understanding and perception in the production process; 11.understand and be able to apply the rules of occupational health and safety appropriate to the unit of study

Assessment: Minor assignments: 50%. Major project: 40%. Journal: 10%.

Contact Hours: 12 hours per week including; 1 hour lecture, 2 hour tutorial and 9 independent study hours per week
