Synopsis: Through a series of demonstrations, tutorials and projects students are provided with opportunities to increase experience, skills, knowledge and develop technical expertise in advanced applications of digital imaging, animation and digital sound in multimedia production. Students use computer technology to conceive, design and produce animation and motion graphics for multimedia.

Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, students should be able to: 1. explain concepts of interactivty, non-linear narrative, navigation and graphics user interface controls; 2. skilfully create, edit, manipulate, compose and output digital images; 3. use software applications in the creation, development, editing and production of interactive animated content; 4. skilly and creatively communicate with 'new media' ; 5. produce messages or experiences or information in multimedia in an advanced manner; 6. critically analyse the content and concept of ublished and proposed interactive animation project; 7. define, research, develop and coordinate content for an interactive animation project; 8.. devise and develop a storyboard/script for an interactive annimtion production; 9. conceive, design, coordinate and produce an inteactive animation project; 10. display competence, understanding and perception in the production process; 11. understand and be able to apply the rules of occupational health and safety appropriate to the unit of study.

Assessment: Minor assignments 40% + Major projects 50% + Journal 10%
