Berwick First semester 2005 (Day)
Synopsis: Through a series of demonstrations, tutorials and projects using complex design and imaging tools, students are encouraged to explore their potential to create, manipulate and incorporate digital imagery within multimedia productions. Students use computer technology to compose and output digital video and sound for inclusion in a variety of electronic publishing media, such as WWW and CD-ROM.
Objectives: On successful completion of this unit, students will: 1.use the computer and peripheral devices to acquire, compose and output images; 2.utilise a range of software applications in the creation and editing of digital images; 3.skilfully and creatively work with digital images; 4.work with various file formats and hardware platforms; 5.use the computer to realise conceptual works especially for the discipline; 6.undertake projects focusing on a variety of electronic publishing needs; 7.optimise images/graphic files for particular medium; 8.incorporate digital video, audio and sound in multimedia projects.
Assessment: Minor assignments: 40% + Major projects: 50% + Journal: 10%
Prerequisites: VCM1101
