Synopsis: Component 1: Continuation of first semester; further development of speaking and writing skills in German. Component 2: An examination of the cultural and social history of the German-speaking world from the End of World War II to the present day through lectures and selected readings, along with an introduction into the basics of text analysis.

Objectives: Component 1: By the end of this semester, students should have acquired the knowledge and skills as outlined in the objectives for first semester. Component 2: Continuation of first semester; this component is designed to build on the skills acquired during the first semester and offers further opportunity to develop an appreciation of an academic approach to cultural matters.

Assessment: As for GRN1090

Contact Hours: 5 hours (2 x lectures, 1 x seminar and 2 x tutorials) per week

Prerequisites: GRN1090 or equivalent
