Synopsis: Computer interface design is common. Unfortunately a lot are poorly designed, unintuitive, frustrating and hard to learn and use. Students will learn how to produce quality software interfaces which are practical, easy to learn and enjoyable to use and learn the tools and techniques used to develop interfaces and investigate some new and exciting research areas. Topics include: human-factors considerations, interface modeling techniques, user-centred design and evaluation, implementation support including toolkits and UIMS, computer supported cooperative work, virtual environments and novel visualisation techniques
Assessment: Examination: 60% + Assignments: 40%
Contact Hours: 4 hours per week
