Synopsis:
Objectives: Having successfully completed this Clinical Practicum Option subject, it is expected that the student will be able to: 1. Apply principles of adult learning to address identified learning need 2. Explain factors affecting communication and negotiation in the nursing context 3. Share nursing knowledge accurately in a logical and coherent manner 4. Synthesize a broad range of knowledge from previous subjects to demonstrate an integrated biopsychosocial insight into a selected area of nursing practice 5. Selectively apply current research findings relevant to the nominated field of study Clinical Objectives 6. Demonstrate safe clinical practice based on sound theoretical knowledge and reasoning 7. Perform detailed nursing clinical assessment of clients 8. Resolve clinical problems appropriately 9. Proficiently implement nursing care as planned 10. Demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural dimensions of care 11. Practice with increasing independence 12. Incorporate current research findings into clinical placement
Assessment: Learning contract-learning theory: 10% + Assignments: 80% + Clinical care plan: 10% + Clinical skills assessment: Pass/fail 100% attendance mandatory
Contact Hours: 4 hours per week (lectures, tutorials, labs) plus 150 hours clinical
