Graduate Diploma in Occupational and Environmental Health

This course, offered by the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, gives health professionals the attitudes, skills and knowledge necessary to provide preventive health services to reduce the health impact of disease and injury resulting from workplace and community factors. The course can be taken full-time over one year or part-time over two years and is offered by off-campus learning with compulsory block requirements each semester. This degree caters for the special needs of medical practitioners, nurses, allied health personnel, scientists and OHS managers. The course articulates with the Master of Occupational and Environmental Health or the Master of Public Health.

Applicants must have either a four-year undergraduate degree, or a three-year undergraduate degree and at least one year of postgraduate study, or a three-year undergraduate degree and at least one year of relevant professional experience. The department will individually assess applications from students without a three-year degree but with extensive relevant professional experience. In such instances the department may require completion of the Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health before enrolling in the graduate diploma.

Assessment

Assessment includes web-based tasks, written assignments, examinations, practical exercises and student presentations.
