Social Policy (6 points)

Synopsis: This unit provides an introduction to the art and science of social policy-making and analysis within the Welfare State. It reviews the processes involved in formulating, implementing and evaluating social policy, and critically examines the impact of major policy decisions on the welfare of citizens.

Assessment: Position paper (1000 words): 20% + Policy analysis (1500 words): 40% + Exam (2 hours): 40%

Contact Hours: 2 hour seminar per week

Prerequisites: SCW1305
