GSC2310Social Policy (6 points)(ARTS) Leader: John Solas
Offered: Synopsis: This unit provides an introduction to the processes and politics of social policy-making and analysis within the Asutralian Welfare State. It reviews procedures and instruments used to formulate, fund, implement and evaluate government policy, and critically examines the impact of major policy decisions on the welfare of Australian citizens. Assessment: On-campus - Debate presentation: 10% + Policy assignment (2000 words): 40% + Examination (2 hours): 50% + Off-campus - Position paper (500 words): 10% + Policy assignment (2000 words): 40% + Examination (2 hours): 50% Contact Hours: 2 hour seminar per week Prerequisites: GSC1305 |
