Bachelor of Pharmacy/Bachelor of Commerce

The following should be read in conjunction with the degree regulations of the Bachelor of Pharmacy and the Bachelor of Commerce. The double- degree course of Bachelor of Pharmacy/Bachelor of Commerce requires the equivalent of six years of full-time study. The pharmacy component must be taken on a full-time basis in the first four years on the Parkville campus. The commerce component, offered on the Clayton campus, is equivalent to two years full-time study and would normally be completed part-time. Students must complete the course in 11 years. Students must complete units to the value of a minimum of 294 credit points unit to the following conditions:
(a) 192 points must be from the Faculty of Pharmacy, and must satisfy the requirements for the Bachelor of Pharmacy.
(b) 102 points must be chosen from units offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics (Clayton) and must include:
(i) Completion of the following compulsory units:

(ii) Completion of a major in a discipline or field of study of the faculty. This requires students to complete 48 points of study in a single discipline or field of study with at least 12 points at each of second and third-year level. Disciplines are defined by department prefixes and fields of study are those sets of related units that may be defined in the catalogue of courses and units.
(iii) A maximum of eight first-year-level units (48 points). In order to meet this requirement, students are able to undertake the second-year versions of the appropriate number of compulsory units.

Students must have their program of study approved by the course coordinator or the course coordinator's nominee prior to commencement of the relevant year.

Professional accreditation

This degree is recognised by both CPA Australia and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia as meeting academic requirements for membership. This is also true for senior associate membership of the Australasian Institute of Banking and Finance. It also meets the requirements of the Pharmacy Board of Victoria. For all professional bodies membership is dependent upon the correct choice of units by students.
