The Department of Forensic Medicine offers this course on a part-time basis over 12 months by off-campus learning. The program provides an introduction to aspects of clinical forensic medicine and enables students to develop knowledge and skills in a particular component of forensic practice. The graduate certificate is a useful starting point for practitioners contemplating or commencing forensic medical practice or for those practising in a specific field of forensic medicine.
Applicants should have a medical degree or equivalent.
To obtain the Graduate Certificate in Forensic Medicine, students must obtain 24 credit points. This requires completion of any three units offered by the Department of Forensic Medicine. The course is conducted over a 12-month period of part-time study. Not all units are offered every year.
The nature and content of the course require a range of assessment methods to be utilised. The assessment methods include assignments, case studies and presentations, case book and oral presentations.
