FOR2005Adult sexual assault (8 points)(MED) Leader: Dr A Welborn
Offered: Synopsis: Sexual assault is addressed in this unit as it pertains to a doctor working in a therapeutic and forensic role with victims. Theoretical and historical perspectives are considered in order to provide a thorough grounding for practical discussions on current legislation, police investigation and what is known about offenders. The medical role will be examined in detail. Forensic responsibilities are dealth with including specimen collection, laboratory liaison and injury interpretation. The unit will address the medico-legal report and the role of the expert witness in court appearances. Assessment: Assignments + Case studies + Presentations + Case book |
