Master of Diplomacy and Trade


General information

The course has been designed to provide high-level training in the fields of international trade, diplomacy, international law policies and contemporary international politics. It would contribute to the development of private and public sector managers engaged in international trade, the diplomatic staff, workers in international organisations and NGOs, and other professionals interested in these areas.

The degree can be completed by either a coursework option or by a coursework and research paper option. Applicants require a pass degree or the equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution or an executive certificate from this faculty with an average grade of credit or above. This is a fee-paying course. Candidates should consult the Department of Management as to the 2003 course fee. Course fees are set and reviewed annually and are therefore subject to change. Candidates may be eligible for a maximum of six credit exemptions for units considered to be equivalent to particular units in the course of study. Credit is restricted to study completed in the last five years. The course director assesses credit exemptions.

Course structure*

The course consists of six core units and six elective units. Students should complete four 9000-level graduate units before commencing 5000-level units. Masters students need to study a minimum of four 5000-level units or equivalent.

In place of four electives, students may enrol in MGX5901 (Research report - introduction) (12 points) and MGX5900 (Research report) (a 20,000-word research report) (12 points).
