ITA3010Italian language A(ART)
M Cicioni 6 points + 4 hours per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: ITA2020 or equivalent knowledge of the language + Prohibition: ITA2070 Synopsis: The unit integrates two components: (i) Language and (ii) aspects of Italian culture. The aim of the unit is to stimulate and improve advanced language acquisition through the integrated practice of the four language skills. The program has a thematic approach. An hour a week is spent analysing forms of cross-cultural communication. Aspects of Italian Culture: the socio-cultural insights gained in ITA2010/2020 are developed through a study of Italian history and culture from the Risorgimento to World War II, which will include in-depth analysis of relevant texts. Assessment: (i) Language: End-of-semester test (2 hours): 30% + Oral participation: 10% + Continuous assessment (which includes a short essay on cross-cultural communication): 40% (ii) Aspects of Italian Culture: Test: 10% + Short essay: 10% |
