Virtual cultures: sex, politics and war in cyberspace

Synopsis: This unit aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the factors (economic, social, political, cultural) which influence the use and construction of virtual spaces on the internet. As such it provides an important theoretical context through which students of communications and multimedia can further develop their own interests.

Assessment: Seminar paper (2000 words): 40% + Participation in an online community (500 words): 20% + Essay (2000 words): 40%
