B Srinivasan 6 points + 4 hours per week + Second and summer semesters + Peninsula + Prerequisites: 12 points of 2nd yr Network Computing units. Prohibitions: GCO2601, BUS3020, ELC1000, ELC1002, ELC2000, ELC3000 Synopsis: This subject provides an overview of Electronic Commerce and relevant terminology, a comparison of traditional approaches to business automation (eg EDI) with Internet-based approaches, an analysis of the types of e-commerce: Business-to-business and business-to-consumer, an overview of relevant networking technology, and an overview of the infrastructures for supporting e-commerce technologies, including network and software architectures, delivery protocols and security issues. Also covers evolving e-commerce models and related infrastructures, together with future developments in these areas. Electronic payment systems (EPS), legal and ethical issues and future trends are also covered.
