A Parr (First semester) + D. Taniar (Second semester) 6 points + One 2-hour lecture and one 1-hour tutorial per week + First and second semester + Clayton + Second Semester, Berwick (to be confirmed) + First semester, Malaysia + Second Semester, South Africa Synopsis: Application of information systems to companies trading in goods and services.The computerisation of operational systems including purchasing,sales,dispatching,receiving,accounts payable,accounts receivable and inventory control. Automation of the exchange of business data between trading partners, electronic commerce(EC).Developments such as bar coding, electronic data interchange,point of sale systems,electronic funds transfer and the role of standards. Case studies of the application of EC techniques in retail, manufacturing and service industries.The relevance of EC and the Internet to just-in-time, vendor managed inventory, evaluated receipt systems and other supply chain reforms. Assessment: Assignments: 30% + Examination (2 hours): 70% + Students must pass the examination in order to pass the subject. |
