This course is a combination of two degree programs. It aims to provide a sound
accounting and computing basis that will enable graduates to deal with any form
of accounting and business activity, particularly the application of
computerised business systems.
Candidates completing this program qualify for the degrees of Bachelor of
Business (Accounting) and Bachelor of Computing.
A study score of at least 25 in English (any) and in mathematics (any) at units 3 and 4 level, and a study score of at least 20 in any two other VCE studies.
Applicants may also satisfy entry requirements with qualifications equivalent to the VCE, eg TAFE qualifications (the first year of a TAFE associate diploma or equivalent TAFE qualification) or comparable Year 12 qualifications, including International Baccalaureate, or other approved tertiary study.
Students who have not successfully completed VCE or equivalent may satisfy entry requirements by completing at least two Monash non-award single units or open learning (OLA) units. Fees will depend upon the student's residency status. Local residents will be liable for either the fees set by the government under the Higher Education Contribution Scheme (HECS) or for full tuition fees as determined by the university. The following credit transfers have been standardised for the Bachelor of Business (Accounting)/Bachelor of Computing. In all cases, at least 16 equivalent semester units must be completed at Monash University before a candidate is eligible for the award.
On graduating, candidates will meet the academic requirements for entry to the professional year of the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants and The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and satisfy the requirements of the Australian Computer Society in meeting the level 1 standard of knowledge for membership.
Day and evening classes are offered at Caulfield. Not all units are offered in all semesters.
The course will normally be completed in four years on a full-time basis and eight years on a part-time basis, with the usual load being two or three units per semester. Evening classes are held between the hours of 6 pm and 10 pm, with students attending two or three evenings per week.

Where a candidate seeks to discontinue his or her enrolment in the degree or
where a candidate, having completed all requirements for one of the degrees
making up the double degree, seeks to continue in only one of either Bachelor
of Business (Accounting) or Bachelor of Computing, that candidate shall make
application to the relevant faculty in the manner prescribed for course
transfers. Students seeking to graduate in the completed single degree should
make application to the relevant faculty.
2. Applications for transfer made under 1 above will be considered by the
relevant faculty, together with all other applications and with regard to
quotas applying to the particular course. Applications of this nature may be
made only at the commencement of the academic year.
3. Candidates enrolled in the degree, who may be subsequently admitted to
either the Bachelor of Business (Accounting) or the Bachelor of Computing under
2 above, and will complete that single degree in accordance with the
regulations pertaining to that award, shall undertake such additional work as
may be prescribed by the admitting faculty in order to satisfy all course
requirements.

Computing electives may be units from the Department of Computer Science and
Software Engineering. These units may have codes of COT, SFT or CSE; or
information systems units from the Department of Information Management and

Completion of the BBus(Acc)/BComp will enable progression to an honours year and a variety of postgraduate courses either at Monash or other Australian or overseas universities. Details of specific postgraduate courses are available on inquiry with the faculty.
