PER3040Writing / Performance(ART)
Peter Snow 6 points + 3 hours per week + First semester + Clayton + Prerequisites: PER2040, PER2000 and a second year sequence in Drama and Theatre Studies + Performing Arts subjects (PER) are available only within the context of the Bachelor of Performing Arts degree, or in special circumstances with permission from Head of Drama and Theatre Studies Synopsis: This is a performance based subject continuing and developing the work of PER1040 and PER 2040. It investigates the processes involved in writing and creating a performance work and a performance text of that work. Students will explore various strategies of initiating new performance work, including the possibilities of various sites and modes of performance. They will decide on a working methodology and therefore on a process of research and training. Students will hand in a written proposal for a performance conceptualising these issues and will then write and prepare the performance work according to this proposal. Assessment: Participation: 20% + Performance project (2500 words): 50% + Performance and text critique (2000 words): 30% |
