Synopsis: Fundamental design concepts and the multidisciplinary nature of engineering design including methodologies and conceptual approaches, resource allocation and project management as applied to engineering design. The use of appropriate technologies such as computer-aided design, project planning and management tools. Students work in small groups on a design project.

Assessment: Continuous assessment by weekly oral reports, augmented by written short submissions: 40% + Final presentation, demonstration and full written report on project: 60%
