Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health


General information

This course, offered by the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, provides a program for professionals in the workplace who wish to expand their knowledge and skills in preventive occupational health practice.
The course is completed in one year part-time and is offered in distance education mode with compulsory residential block requirements each semester. The course is not offered on a full-time basis.
This degree allows students to gain basic knowledge in legal OHS requirements and competence in assessing and controlling workplace hazards, which are core skills in occupational health practice that can be built upon in the Graduate Diploma in Occupational and Environmental Health and masters degrees.
Applicants must have a medical degree, a bachelors degree with honours or graduate diploma, or a three-year bachelors degree with relevant professional experience in a health-related field. The department will individually assess applications from students with a nursing diploma completed before the introduction of nursing degrees.
