The Graduate Certificate in Human Resources provides managers who already hold
an undergraduate degree with the opportunity to undertake formal study and gain
a qualification in the field of human resource management. This course also
enables managers to make the transition to a new role in human resource
management.
The course provides study for graduates who are actively involved and
interested in managerial and strategic issues related to managing people.
Students have the opportunity to develop their knowledge base in human resource
management by examining the theoretical bases and research in this field.
Further, subjects in this course cover a wide range of contemporary practical
issues related to managing human resources.
Applicants require a pass degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised
tertiary institution. Applicants without a first degree who have a minimum of
six years appropriate employment experience should refer to the section on
executive certificates. Candidates may be eligible for a maximum of two credit
exemptions for subjects considered to be equivalent to particular subjects in
the course of study. Refer to the course director for further details.
This is a fee-paying course. Candidates should consult the Faculty of Business
and Economics as to the 2001 course fee. Course fees are set and reviewed
annually and are therefore subject to change.
Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Human Resources
may apply for admission to either the Graduate Diploma in Human Resources or
the Master of Management (Human Resources) and would be eligible for exemption
for four subjects.
