Bachelor of Communication

The Bachelor of Communication is a three-year professionally oriented program with an international focus providing skills which can be utilised in areas such as mass media, public affairs and corporate communication.
Students will undertake sequences of studies in communication, international studies and writing. In addition, students will undertake a range of elective subjects from the Faculties of Business and Economics, Information Technology, Law and Science.

Admission requirements

Satisfactory completion of the VCE or equivalent, with a study score of at least 25 in units 3 and 4 of English and a study score of at least 20 in any three other VCE studies, or equivalent.

Course structure

1. A compulsory sequence of at least five six-point subjects, plus one additional strongly recommended subject (up to a maximum of eight six-point subjects or 48 points) in communication. Students will be strongly encouraged to complete eight six-point subjects in communication in order to satisfy the requirements of a major.
2. A compulsory arts international studies sequence of five six-point arts subjects plus one additional strongly recommended subject designed specifically for the Bachelor of Communication degree.
3. A specialisation sequence of five six-point subjects plus one additional strongly recommended subject in writing (a LOTE sequence in Japanese may be offered in the year 2000 subsequent to the availability of market research results)*.
4. Six six-point elective subjects drawn from one or more disciplines or areas from Arts and/or other faculties.

First year - 48 points
Second year - 48 points
Third year - 48 points
