Synopsis: The historical and contemporary state of Australian and global communications industries and policies pertaining. Forms of media and the social, political, economic and organisational forces operating on them. The impact of new communications technologies such as convergence, the internet and multimedia. The globalisation of communications industries.

Assessment: Essay (1000 words): 20% + Essay (2000 words): 40% + Tutorial presentation and participation (500 words): 10% + Examination (1500 words): 30%
