Synopsis: Major themes in cellular and molecular biology are presented including the plasma membrane and the cytoskeleton; biophysics of the cell and its environment; signal transduction, cell regulation, development and differentiation; synthesis and intracellular trafficking of proteins and glycoproteins; formation and function of chloroplasts and mitochondria.

Assessment: Essay: 25% + Examinations (2 x 2 hours): 60% + Laboratory: 15%
