Synopsis: Topics include the biochemistry and molecular biology of cell membrane and organelle systems; cell proliferation, signalling, differentiation and death; biochemistry and molecular biology as a powerful tool in medicine focussing on diseases involving extracellular matrix, signalling disorders in the endocrine context, and molecular biology of host-parasite relationships.

Assessment: Essay: 25% + Examinations (2 x 2 hours): 60% + Laboratory: 15%
