Leadership and programming

6 points - 3 hours per week - Second semester - Gippsland - Prerequisite: EDG1503 or equivalent

Objectives Upon successful completion of this subject, students should have acquired a sound knowledge of the concepts of leadership and programming; acquired a sound knowledge of the theories of leadership and programming; developed their own philosophy of leadership and programming; the ability to lead a range of different activities utilising various styles as appropriate in selected outdoor pursuits; developed personalised and group programs to suit a range of settings.

Synopsis This subject is designed to provide a theoretical background on leadership and programming in relation to sport and outdoor recreation settings. The concepts, principles, styles and applications of leadership skills and programming techniques will be investigated in a broad range of settings. The subject will also focus on developing students' practical skills in these areas with workshops and practical exercises forming part of the assessment. Ten days of fieldwork placement will allow students to gain experience and practical application of these skills.

Assessment Two assignments (2000 words each): 100% - Fieldwork journal
