Objectives: At the completion of this subject, students should have acquired a knowledge of the pedagogical and intellectual foundations of the Sport Education in Physical Education Program (SEPEP) Model, an understanding of the implementation strategies required in the conduct of a SEPEP program, an understanding and application of the principles of coaching and skill development in various sports, a knowledge of the psychological and physiological needs of students in Years 5 - 10, the ability to differentiate between the involvement in a competitive mode of play and in games skills, and the need to structure learning to take into consideration appropriate progression from simple to complex movement patterns and skills and develop skills at teaching at least one sport in the planning and delivery of a the Sport Education in Physical Education Program.

Synopsis In this subject students will examine the theoretical and practical basis for the design and implementation of the Sport Education in Physical Education Program (SEPEP). The subject will examine the physiological and psychological developmental stages relevant to the various ages that participate in Sport and the Sport Education Program, the application of principles that underpin the model of instruction, physiological and psychological readiness of Sport participants, appropriate sequencing of instruction and skill development, the ethics and appropriate codes of conduct relating to the culture of Sport and the issues that impact on the long term involvement in sport. Students will examine and review the theoretical bases of SEPEP including its intellectual and pedagogical foundations. Students will experience the program in by the planning and delivering a SEPEP program.

Assessment Two assignments (1500 words each): 60%; Journal (3000 words): 40%; Practical hurdle requirement.
