On-line publishing 2

3 points - 2 studio hours and 4 independent study hours per week - First semester - Caulfield - Prerequisites: DIS2801 - Corequisites: DIS2902 - Elective

Objectives On successful completion of this subject, students will have sound knowledge and experience in creating, producing and organising graphic content for network publishing ie WWW and intranets; the ability to undertake more advanced processes involved in organising content for network publishing; such as tables, frames, forms, and imagemaps for internet publishing; experience in 'uploading' content to a network server, and the maintenance of such content.

Synopsis This unit aims to build on the skills, interest and knowledge developed in the previous unit. The course will be delivered through demonstration/workshop sessions in groups of fifteen students. However, the content is of a more complex and technical nature which allows students to have more control and features relating to their published material. Instruction would also be given in establishing and maintaining a 'network server'. Where possible and appropriate the content developed would be actually 'published' and made publicly available. Students may be required to assist in the development and maintenance of content for the Faculty of Art and Design as part of their major project.
