* This subject cannot be taken in conjunction with BUS4560 or MBA5470.

Objectives At the completion of this subject students should be able to understand the business strategies of different organisations; appreciate the structure and functionality of management software; understand the essential aspects of contemporary productive systems; and be familiar with international quality standards.

Synopsis This subject deals with the study of operations management in manufacturing and service organisations. Topics include financial calculations, an introduction to computer software systems in a management context, production planning and control, materials requirements planning, project management, just-in-time systems, and the ISO9000 standards. The subject will also look at different types of organisations and their business strategies.

Assessment Assignments: 50%
