Objectives The student is expected to acquire further knowledge and understanding of electrical and electronic devices and power engineering.
Synopsis AC circuits and mesh, nodal and Thevenin analyses. Frequency response, resonance. DC transients with RL and RC components. Basic electronics, diodes, transistors and applications. AC power and power factor. Single and three phase circuits. Electrical machines, applications. Electrical safety. Lamps and fundamentals of lighting. Energy sources, electric power conversion, generation, transmission and distribution.
Assessment Examination (3 hours): 70%
* Laboratory
work, assignments and class test: 30%
