Objectives The student is expected to acquire further knowledge and understanding of the energy systems in an integrated power supply system and to develop professional skills in power system analysis and design.

Synopsis Energy resources. Electricity supply systems. Power system components, generation and planning. Synchronous generator. Transmission lines. Underground cables. Power system faults. Introduction to load flow analysis. Principles of power system protection. Introduction to HVDC systems. Computer program power system analysis and design. Environmental impacts of power generation.

Assessment Examination (3 hours): 70%
* Class tests: 10%
* Assignments and laboratory work: 20%
